International Board
Learn more about how KIMO operates
The International Board is where KIMO members meet to discuss the issues and projects currently active. Reports from all of KIMO's national networks and forums are presented to the board for review and comments. Reports from National Co-ordinators and associate members are also discussed.
The KIMO International Board Meeting is fundamentally a political organ which discusses in detail current or future campaigns, initiatives and projects. For example, at the latest meeting in October 2008 the merits of a proposal to secure funding for a microplastics research project was debated. Collaborations with the OSPAR Commission are often debated; this helps maintain focus. Ideas to develop the Baltic Forum are often discussed.
International collaboration between KIMO networks is reported. For example, how KIMO International and KIMO Sweden successfully lobbied the Swedish government to halt the dangerous transportation of highly-toxic nuclear waste through Scottish waters using ill-equipped ships.
