Scotland’s vision for its marine environment is “Clean, healthy, safe, productive and diverse seas; managed to meet the long term needs of nature and people” and this is only achievable through strong national action and international cooperation. Scotland’s International Marine Conference 2019 will focus on current national and international actions to protect the marine environment, identify emerging threats to our seas and consider what new measures are required to protect the marine environment for future generations. The conference will address how to achieve clean, healthy, safe, productive and diverse seas for the first day before focusing on impacts of marine litter and potential solutions to address this global problem on the second day.
Abstracts are invited for conference presentations; these should be submitted by 09h00 on 10 December 2018.
Approximately 20% of marine litter originates from the marine sector itself. KIMO will be chairing the session on litter from the Marine Sector at this conference. The Marine Sector session will consider the scale of different marine sector industries’ contributions to marine litter, and the associated policies, legislation, initiatives and projects which aim to reduce their impact.
The conference is open to members of the public. You can book your free place at any of the sessions by visiting the conference website:
