The oceans are extremely important for all life on earth. But pollution, climate change, ocean litter, microplastics and damaged habitats threaten both marine and human life. Few know this better than the coastal municipalities.
KIMO Sweden currently counts 12 member municipalities, working together for cleaner seas.

KIMO Sweden works to tackle pollution, climate change, ocean litter, microplastics and damaged habitats.
We have agreed an action plan against microplastic emissions. As well as taking action to reduce the leakage of plastic granules from artificial turf, our report on microfibers from textiles highlights an environmental problem that is yet to be confronted.
We are also concerned with other marine environmental issues, such as air pollution from ships.
In addition to raising awareness about the impact of marine litter, our members have called for bans on mass balloon releases and sustainable alternatives to plastic confetti.
KIMO Sweden’s current members are: Tanum, Sotenäs, Uddevalla, Tjörn, Kungälv, Öckerö, Gothenburg, Varberg, Falkenberg, Helsingborg, Lomma, and Malmö.
