We are an association of municipalities with common interests on and around the North Sea.
KIMO Netherlands and Belgium promotes the interests of our member municipalities on all matters relating to the North Sea and its coastal areas through lobbying, research and local projects.
At present, 34 municipalities are members of KIMO Netherlands and Belgium. As an organization of local governments, we consult with other governments and organizations to achieve our goals. These goals are in the field of safety, the environment and the economy.
Our Fishing for Litter project is the oldest and biggest in the world: we invented the scheme and first launched it back in 2001. It has since helped fishermen voluntarily catch and return more than thousands of tonnes of marine litter. Beyond Fishing for Litter, we are also involved in other projects to help clean our seas and coastlines.
