KIMO Netherlands and Belgium is a safety and environmental organization for coastal municipalities. It promotes the interests of municipalities concerning all matters relating to the North Sea and its coastal areas through lobbying, research and projects.
Projects
At present, 34 municipalities are members of KIMO Netherlands and Belgium. KIMO participates in many projects that meet the objectives of the organization such as Fishing for Litter where fishermen land their passively fished waste, CleanSea where scientific research is carried out into the consequences of litter in the maritime environment and ‘Vuil-Spuien’ where river water is monitored for litter. Network
KIMO Netherlands and Belgium is part of the international KIMO network in which more than 150 municipalities undertake joint action. KIMO The Netherlands and Belgium can count on a strong network both nationally and internationally. This network is used to bring the visions of local governments to the attention of both national and international governments. The members of KIMO Netherlands and Belgium are represented by the elected representatives of local authorites and always seek to achieve their goals through parliamentary and democratic channels.
